About the winemaker
The long-winded country of South America has a long and proud wine history, dating back many hundreds of years, but it was not until after 1850 that the production was seriously set. French specialists were hired to investigate the conditions, in order to find the grape varieties most suitable for soils and climates in central Chile.
The climate is in many ways similar to that found in the French Mediterranean region, though with a significant "detail" the cold, polar Humboldt stream. It runs along the coast of Chile, and has a major impact on the climate of the wine districts. The specialists' choices therefore fell on the classic French grape varieties: Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon-Blanc, etc ..
